Numerical and Experimental Research on the Effect of Platform Heave Motion on Vortex-Induced Vibration of Deep Sea Top-Tensioned Riser

The prediction and control of vortex-induced vibration (VIV) is one the key problems for riser design. effect platform heave motion on VIV deep sea top-tensioned (TTR) presented by means numerical simulation experiment in this research. First, was modeled as a parametric excitation, governing equation considering excitation established. Then, dynamic response TTR calculated numerically finite difference method based Van der Pol wake-oscillator model. Finally, validation carried out at towing tank Tianjin university. results show that bottom significantly increased due to motion, especially situation low current velocity. larger amplitude higher frequency with greater influence are generated TTR. In particular, value 0.5 times, 1 time, or other multiples will be included component when large high.
